Common Part Number Codes
Many partnumbers for ICs contain some common elements.
The examples below are for the 4xxx series of ICs. (i.e. CD74HC4000 or
CD4000B)
Prefixes
- CD : CMOS Digital
- MM : MOS Monolithic
- MN : CMOS
- 74 : Industrial Applications (0-70 deg C) 74xx/54xx TTL Series Pin
Compatible
- HC : High Speed CMOS as fast as LS TTL family (Low Power Schottky)
Suffixes
- B : Buffered Output
Manufacturer's Date Code
The manufacturer's Code is usually a four-digit number. This code
is the date of the run in which a particular IC was manufactured. The
first two digits represent ther year, and the last two digits represent
the week. For example a code of 9504 would represent the fourth week
of 1995 (the last week of January).
