The PP29 is almost exactly the same in case size and hardware as the PP28. See pic P29 attached.
Internally, I would say a similar pcb has been used, but with upgrades (modifications).
To cater for increased EPROM size I believe the ram has been changed from 16K x 1 devices to 64K x 1 devices - see data sheet attached. These are pin compatible chips just needing increased addressing arrangements.
I have also enclosed another picture showing the bottom of the PP29 pcb with your web picture of the PP28. Main changes seem to have been using ONE 28 pin ZIF socket for both sizes of EPROM - 24 pin + 28 pin. There is also no provision for external I/O via the DB25 socket on rear. This is completely missing suggesting that the PP29 is intended to be a standalone device.Note that I have flipped your picture L > R to show alignment of major components.
It seems to me that if both PCBs are the same and have all the chips soldered,
then the difference between both boards maybe DRAM chips,
additional ZIF socket, external DB25 connector and firmware, so if you solder
a DB25 connector then you can upload/download files IF the
Firmware of STAG PP29 is able to do. Take the EPROM firmware of the PP29, make
a dump and post it, like I have did with the PP28.
